We focus on providing community service by striving to be the premier community band in the nation. Each year we feature a nationally known guest soloist, who teaches master classes in our local schools in addition to performing with the band.
We honor outstanding local high school musicians by having them rehearse and perform with us, and by awarding music scholarships.
This December, we presented our 12th annual holiday benefit concert for Meals on Wheels of San Diego as our gift to the community. Ticket sales and a raffle raised more than $15,000 to provide meals for seniors. In these 12 years, we have raised over $80,000 for this organization.
Several members of the Coastal Communities Concert Band give their time to coach, on their musical instruments, students in our elementary and junior high schools. Two of our band members are officers in the Foundation to Advance Music Education, and many others are members of FAME.
