About The Band

The Coastal Communities Concert Band was organized in 1983 to provide a place for adults to share the joy, beauty, and excitement of playing an instrument with others. The Band is a class in the San Dieguito Adult School. Beginning with 14 members, the band has expanded to over 76 members who reside throughout San Diego County. Today, we are a complete symphonic band, comprised of talented volunteer musicians who are attorneys, doctors, engineers, school teachers, professional musicians, and others. Our band members not only volunteer their musical performances, but also pay tuition to the San Dieguito Adult School in order to participate.

We perform about ten concerts throughout the San Diego area every year, providing music education and entertainment for our enthusiastic audiences. Our concerts introduce the audience to diverse band music by offering historical background about the composers and their music, and by providing the opportunity to hear the works performed by one of the premier community bands in the nation. More about the band.

Many members of the CCCB also play in smaller ensembles, such as jazz bands, trumpet choirs, and woodwind quintets. More about our other ensembles.

The Coastal Communities Concert Band Foundation produces our concerts and provides music, equipment, and financial support to the Band. More about the foundation.

Our focus is on providing community service by our performances, our support of music education in the schools, and our partnership with other charitable organizations. More about community service.

Membership is open to experienced musicians, subject to ability and needed instrumentation. More about membership.
